Throughout Year 4, we have a one-hour class outside of school hours every week during term time (Monday at 4:30pm online, Monday at 5:40pm at The Leigh UTC in Dartford). Sessions are designed to promote fluency in the skills needed to prepare for the 11-plus examinations (English , Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal/Spatial Reasoning). All resources are included and sessions are led by our highly qualified Pass Masters teaching staff. Sessions will be purposeful and professional. The Launchpad Programme feeds perfectly into our Full Programme for Year 5 students.

Signing up in Year 4 means that you will spend your first year ensuring that we start Year 5 ‘ahead of the competition’. We’ll have covered key elements of English and Maths that are required to be successful on the 11-plus and will have been introduced to the kinds of Verbal and Non-Verbal challenges that also exist.

Year 4: The Launchpad Programme

  • Year 4 is about fluency. We achieve fluency when the brain doesn't have to spend too much time thinking about how to complete the processes used to solve a problem, more on which processes are required to solve the problem.

The Launchpad programme is designed to achieve a high level of fluency on the processes required throughout the 11-plus - long multiplication, finding a fraction of a quantity, knowing how to use a comma, understanding the punctuation around speech marks, etc. When we are fluent in these areas, the preparation in Year 5 is significantly reduced.

When the child starts Year 5, our familiarisation materials start to broaden the experience that a child has of the challenges involved.

Launchpad also covers aspects within Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, purely to get the brain used to that type of problem solving.

The Launchpad Course starts in September and continues throughout the academic year.
