Who We Are

Helping my daughter prepare for the 11-plus illustrated how unfair the Grammar School system is. I want to make Grammar School education more accessible for all…

My daughter found the preparation difficult. The Maths and English aspects were beyond what she had been learning in School. The expectations of literacy across the practice resources were beyond what she had been learning in school and broader than our common language in the family home. The Maths required problem solving in three or four steps which is very uncommon to use in school. I’ve been teaching for nearly twenty years and have spent most of that time as a senior leader in Secondary schools.. Without this experience, I wouldn’t have been able to help her. So, any child - whose parents do not have teaching experience - that wanted to go to a Grammar School are likely to have to pay large sums of money for a tutor. If they cannot afford to do this, then Grammar School education is simply not possible for this child. Supporters of grammar schools argue they give academically bright children whose families cannot afford private education an opportunity to receive advanced schooling, but many families cannot provide the support to enable their children to pass the exam. The percentage of students eligible for Free School Meals in Grammar Schools is around 2..5%, in non-selective schools it is over 5 times as many. The grammar school system no longer propels social mobility, it prevents it.

The Pass Masters are changing that.

Our courses are affordable and high quality. We scaffold the curriculum to allow pupils to work towards the standard expected in the entrance test - which is a unique approach. Our after school classes allow for parents in receipt of universal credit to receive up to 85% deduction in costs.

Grammar Schools can be accessible for anyone - follow The Pass Masters route to book yourself a Grammar School place in year 7
